What is Android Marshmallow?
Android Marshmallow Operating System or Android M is supposedly the next version of Android, in line with the alphabetical list of Android versions. Ex. Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jellybean & Kitkat.
Officially, not much is yet known about Android M. Most, or almost all of the information you see about Android M on the Internet is either speculations or rumors.
A few things that look certain with Android M are:
– A completely new UI.
– Enhanced security features.
– Better support for Android Wear, Google Glass & the soon to be launched Android car interface.
What this means for medical professionals, is essentially, a more cohesive interface which if not to the mark as iPhone, will be a drastic step-up from the old days of unstable, buggy Android.
We can now look forward to more devices from various manufacturers that will follow a more ‘uniform’ set of code, have similar UI and given the decrease in FRAGMENTATION of various versions of Android – more device manufacturers, including those of medical equipment, will slowly be able to develop better content using Android phones (& tablets) as the baseline platform.
