Android Marshmallow Operating System, or Android M, is supposedly the next version of Android, in line with the alphabetical list of Android versions. Ex. Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jellybean & Kitkat.
Officially, not much is yet known about Android M. Most, or almost all, of the information you see about Android M on the Internet is either speculation or rumours.
A few things that look certain with Android M are:
– A completely new UI.
– Enhanced security features.
– Better support for Android Wear, Google Glass & the soon-to-be-launched Android car interface.
What this means for medical professionals is essentially a more cohesive interface, which, if not to the mark as iPhone, will be a drastic step-up from the old days of unstable, buggy Android.
We can now look forward to more devices from various manufacturers that will follow a more ‘uniform’ set of code, have similar UI and, given the decrease in FRAGMENTATION of various versions of Android, more device manufacturers, including those of medical equipment, will slowly be able to develop better content using Android phones (& tablets) as the baseline platform.
